PROPER PACKAGING SAVES YOU MONEY & AGGRAVATION
When we hear pieces rattling around in a box, it’s not a good sign. Now, with warmer weather here, we also worry about melted wax components. Sometimes, J-Dent’s experienced technicians can repair these damaged removables, but not always, and that can cost you money and cause undue aggravation to your patients.
Proper packaging is one of the easiest ways to ensure patients spend the least amount of time in your chair, turnaround time isn’t unnecessarily extended, and you keep your costs down.
Here are a few tips to share with everyone in your office who is charged with packaging removables for delivery to the lab:
- First and foremost, assume your packages will be dropped or compressed at some point during shipping!
- Keep plenty of sturdy boxes, bubble wrap, and foam packaging materials on hand.
- Wrap each model individually.
- In articulated cases, set the pin to hold the bit OPEN so that models do not touch each other. (Padding between the arches is a good idea, too.)
- Do not use rubber bands on wax components, such as bite blocks and set ups. Doing so creates distortion, especially in warm weather.
- Never leave packages in vehicles. Hot and cold temperatures can be extremely damaging.
- If you can hear the contents of a package, it isn’t properly secured.
